This module focuses on philanthropy. Our definition is simple, giving back without any expectation of getting something in return. Whether you volunteer, donate money or time to a worthy cause, or simply help out a neighbor or those in your community or church. The main point is that you are wanting to do good for the greater good without wanting or asking for something back. And going one step further, having a desire to have a positive impact and leave your neighborhood, community or world in a better place. This requires a possible shift to be thinking about others before yourself, to think about what can I do to positively impact others. This also could be a kind gesture, a note of gratitude, a friendly ear to listen to or offering empathy or compassion to someone in need. You don’t have to have tons of money to give away in order to be philanthropic. You can offer to give your time by going down to your local school or church and donating your services. Think outside the book. Start by asking, what can I do to help others? You might be surprised by the answers you come up with.
